Lake Humantay Peru is an incredibly beautiful and rare wonder to behold within the Andes mountain range. For those who are searching for a moderately challenging day trip outside of Cusco, this hike is a perfect fit.
Although this hike can certainly be completed on an individual basis, it is recommended that less-experienced hikers book with a group or travel with friends and family. In the event of altitude sickness or weariness, horses are available for rental. The high altitude of this hike also increases the need for water and sun protection, so pack carefully. Lastly, Peru requires all international travelers to present a valid passport and secure a 90-day traveling card upon arrival.
At present Cusco is a safe city with limited or no criminal activities. Local population is generally friendly and police are cordial to deal with. It is however recommended that you keep your belongings safe.
