The adrenaline rush that you will feel while freeriding cannot be compared to any other, and Chamonix is one of the best playgrounds to experience it. Take your pick amongst the many routes the area has to offer, and you will never want to hit the resorts again.
Freeriding is a risky activity, as skiing or snowboarding on off-piste routes exposes you to hazards that you might not be aware of – such as avalanches, crevasses, … For this reason, avalanche equipment is mandatory on any freeriding outing and hiring a guide is also very strongly recommended, no matter your skill level. Indeed, even experts will benefit from the knowledge of a local guide and will enjoy their expedition more relaxed. Finally, make sure that your insurance covers freeriding, as many do not cover skiing or snowboarding activities outside of the official slopes.
