Choosing to summit the Breithorn provides adventurers with plenty of flexibility, depending on their fitness. The starting point of the hike, Zermatt, is a gorgeous, car-free town full of history. From Zermatt and the Breithorn, you are surrounded by sky-scraping, magnificent alpine peaks.
Although there is an easy path available, all climbers should be relatively fit. The climb begins at a high altitude and involves ascending a minimum of 300 meters. It’s important to be prepared with the necessary gear, especially if you are not bringing a mountain guide. Crampons, weather-appropriate clothing, ropes, first aid kits, and an avalanche beacon will help keep you safe. Lastly, international travelers will need to present a valid visa in order to enter Switzerland.
