The Jungfrau is the star of the famous trio of peaks which characterizes the Bernese Alps. At 4,158m, this stunning peak offers a challenging climb for intermediate hikers.
What all one needs to consider before deciding on the trip …open ended, but can include weather, prevention of altitude sickness, packing, clothing, food, water, fitness, gear, permit, vaccination, visa, insurance etc. Some of these have been covered in our blog and can be cross referenced. Climbers must be confident traversing snow and ice sections in heavy duty mountain boots, and prepare for particularly steep patches toward the summit. The mixed climbing required to summit Jungfrau means a complete mountaineering kit, see our checklist for a detailed recommendation. Weather will be best from May until September, but visitors should be aware that this is also the peak tourist season, and they are likely to come across other climbers during these months.
