This highly accessible hike is a great opportunity for beginners or young children to experience the beauty of the Bernese Alps. The views offered to hikers along the path capture the diverse countryside and quaint towns that stretch and amble through the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
This hiking trail is only available from June to October, so keep that in mind if you hope to include this family-friendly option in your travel plans. You will need to purchase a roundtrip train ticket to return from Alpiglen to Eigergletcher, unless you intend to complete the hike forwards and backwards. The hike lasts between 2-3 hours, depending on your pace and direction; as such, it would be wise to bring water along, or perhaps a small day bag if you intend to rest in Alpiglen or visit the Jungfraujoch Station. Lastly, Switzerland is part of the Schengen area, and travelers from outside this area are required to present a valid passport or visa to enter.
