Completing an avalanche safety course is an invaluable option for anyone planning to spend time enjoying winter sports on the Alps. Additionally, taking such a course is a great way to orient yourself to the Jungfrau region, including topography and climate, in order to make the most out of your trip.
Because these courses are conducted around the town of Interlaken, they are typically available only when it has snowed in the area (November to March). These courses are built for older children and adults. Those who have small children may need to make care-taking arrangements to attend the class. Lastly, Switzerland is part of the Schengen area, and travelers from outside this area are required to present a valid passport or visa to enter.
