The Lodge Trek is the perfect hike for adventure lovers who want to explore the beauty of the Peruvian Andes and experience the intriguing ancient Inca sites during the day while having the comfort of luxurious accommodations each night. Some highlights along the route are visiting Humantay Lake, and seeing breathtaking panoramic views from Salkantay and Llactapata pass.
Before leaving on the Lodge Trek, it is important to consider the weather, packing, and altitude for the trip. The weather in the Andes can vary a lot and because of this it is important to bring clothing for a variety of temperatures. The highest point on this hike is 4,640m while traversing the Salkantay Pass, and many hikers suffer from altitude sickness. To help prevent this, spend time in the city of Cusco before leaving for the trek and drink or chew cocoa leaves.
At present Cusco is a safe city with limited or no criminal activities. Local population is generally friendly and police are cordial to deal with. It is however recommended that you keep your belongings safe.
